What is the best kind of television to buy in 2009?
By lynndalf
LCD or Plasma
I would always go for an LCD set myself - plasma is too shiny - bit like sitting opposite a mirror! They also get very hot. Besides, I prefer the picture on an LCD - it seems more pleasant, not as harsh.
Next up - big. 42 inches is good - but it has to fit your room, so not too small, unless you want to use binoculars!
Then - Hi Def Ready. Not much point in not going Hi Def unless it's not available in your area for 10 or more years (TVs last quite well).
Of course, these are all digital sets and work with cable and satellite systems. I'd also mount it on the wall if possible, which might allow a bit more space for the other bits and pieces you will use.
I'd also link them up to a good hi-fi system, but you don't have to buy complete systems, ours is made up of various brands.
Comments welcome, of course.

I have a couple of LCD monitors which are matt finish and fine. My laptop is shiny though - but I don't use that too much. We just had a loan set which was plasma and shiny - just like a mirror.
Thanks for commenting.
